Centerpiece Ideas and Decorating Accessories for a Bridal Reception

After the vows are said and the bridal pictures are taken, all the guests look forward to celebrating at the reception. Whether elegant or casual, find a centerpiece to match the theme of the reception, season or the personalities of the bride and groom.
Candles and Mirror Centerpieces
Place mirrored tiles in the center of each table. Light white or cream colored votive candles of varying heights and place them around the mirrors. Sprinkle silk rose petals and confetti hearts around the candles.
Floating Candle Centerpieces
Float scented candles in crystal bowls filled with water. For a tropical theme, use fruit shaped and scented candles. Butterfly candles are perfect for a spring wedding. Candles can be found in almost any shape, including autumn leaves, holly, Christmas ornaments, angels or a frog and prince.
Champagne Glass Centerpieces
Fill varying heights of champagne glasses with colorful candies, such as jelly beans, M&Ms or anything that matches the colors of the wedding. The champagne glasses don’t need to match. Guests can munch on the candy after dinner.
Fishbowl Centerpieces
This centerpiece is perfect for the tropical themed wedding. Top each table with a goldfish bowl filled with rocks that match the wedding colors. Add water and a goldfish. This is sure to be a great conversation starter. After the wedding, have all the guests at each table reach beneath their chairs to find out if they “won” the centerpiece.
Gumdrop Tree Centerpieces
Spray paint a spray of branches silver and stick them into clay in the bottom of a flower pot. Stick gumdrops on the tips of each branch. Use a variety of colorful gumdrops, or only decorate with those that match the bridal colors. Scatter gumdrops around the base of the flower pot.
Apothecary Jar Centerpieces
Find a variety of shapes and sizes of apothecary jars. Fill them with colorful candies and place them on the center of each table. For even more visual interest, mix and match flavors, shapes and sizes of candy. After the meal, encourage guests to help themselves to the candy.
Whimsical Centerpieces
Find large round bowls and fill then with water or grass. Add a colorful array of children’s bath toys, such as yellow rubber ducks and bright red starfish for a whimsical touch and conversation starter.
Fruit Bowl Centerpieces
Place large, colorful bowls on the center of each table. Fill to overflowing with fruits in a variety of colors. These are ideal for spring or summer weddings. Encourage the guests to eat as much as they want and take home the rest.
Cornucopia Centerpieces
For an autumn wedding, fill a cornucopia with nuts and fruits, such as oranges and apples. The guests will enjoy snacking on the bounty before, during and after the meal.
Waterfall Centerpieces
Place a miniature indoor waterfall fountain on the center of each table for a peaceful effect. Most of these run on AA batteries. All they need is water.
Board Game Centerpieces
Put a different board game on the center of each table. Ideal games for reception tables are checkers, Chinese checkers and Boggle are ideal in this setting. This will keep children entertained and help break the ice for those who are sitting at tables with people they don’t know.
Floral Arrangement Centerpieces
Floral arrangements are always attractive centerpieces during wedding receptions. They may be smaller bunches of flowers in the bridal colors, or they may be lavish and elegant.
Think of the centerpiece as an extension of the theme of the reception. It adds the finishing touch to the decor.
