Making your own wedding favor tags is a fun and inexpensive way to adorn your favors in the color scheme or theme of your wedding.

Weddings are expensive, and anything that a bride or groom to be can do to cut down on wedding-related costs is recommended. Wedding favor tags are a great example of an easy do-it-yourself craft that a bride or groom can make that will impress their guests and save money.

Planning Your Wedding Favor Tags

Before you rush out to the craft supply store, you need to do some planning. Think about your wedding. Have you already picked out a color scheme? Does your wedding have a unique theme? It is important to have an idea of what your wedding will look like, before you can coordinate your accessories.

Once you can envision your wedding's theme and color scheme, decide how you want to use it to accent your favor tags. Do you want to include an image (for instance if your wedding theme is beach, you can work a palm tree design onto your tag) or keep it simple and centered on your colors (example: turquoise background with your names and wedding date in brown font)? Think about all of your options before deciding on your final choice.

Possible Wording for Your Favor Tags

Your tags should be a reflection of your wedding and your personalities. There are many choices for the wording and here are some popular examples:

Supplies Needed

Now that you have an idea that you will work with, you need to buy the materials. Make a trip to your local arts and crafts store and make sure you have the following items on hand:

You should also have access to a high quality color printer and basic word processing program.

Steps

  1. Cut cardstock into desired shape.
  2. Using a word processing program, design the layout for your wording and clipart. Experiment with different sizes and fonts until you achieve one that works well with your overall theme. Once you are pleased with your design and layout, print them.
  3. Cut out designs and affix them to cardstock.
  4. If desired, add embellishments to tags.
  5. Punch hole in top of tag and attach ribbon.

That's all there is to it! Now you can attach your homemade tag to your wedding favors. They are certain to be a big hit at your reception and will be a thoughtful keepsake.
