Even brides who are not planning Christmas weddings can take advantage of Christmas clearance sales to trim their wedding budget. Here are some money-saving tips.

Brides planning holiday or Christmas-themed weddings often jump at the chance to attend after Christmas sales of decorations, lights and accessories. But the truth is, any bride planning a wedding on a budget can find some great deals on wedding decorations in the post-holiday sale season.

With many people planning parties, decorating, and entertaining at home during the holiday season, a frugal bride can find many items on sale that can be used for her wedding. Some of these items and accessories can be more expensive, or difficult to find in great quantity at other times of the year.

Here are some common wedding decorations and accessories brides can look for when scouring the holiday clearance rack:

Christmas Lights

Christmas lights are an inexpensive way to create a festive mood in almost any reception location. White lights at weddings are always popular, but many brides also choose lights that incorporate their colors into their wedding reception decor. Strings of lights can create a border around tables, and be hung from ceilings, or along the walls. Rope lights can also be placed on the floor along the perimeter of the room for an elegant alternative to overhead lighting.

Christmas Decorations

Many holiday decorations such as ornaments, charms, articfical flowers and tree branches can easily be used as wedding decorations for the ceremony, the reception, or both.

Candles

Candles are everywhere during the Christmas season, and brides looking for them on the Christmas clearance racks find themselves spoiled for choice. Candles in hurricane vases make an excellent base for wedding centerpieces, but brides should consult with their reception venues for their policies on open flames.

Candle Holders and Vases

From small votive holders to tall hurricane vases, glassware is often found on sale after the holidays. Brides looking for wedding savings can stock up on materials for their centerpieces by shopping the festive glassware section.

Picture Frames

Picture frames are another holiday sale item that can be used as a wedding decoration. Some brides choose to display family photos as centerpieces, or to display photos of loved ones who have passed away at a memorial table.

Linens and Accessories

Table linens and accessories are often on sale after the holidays, often in a variety of colors. Brides planning a low budget wedding can find tablecloths, napkins, napkin rings, table runners, and charger plates on sale.

Craft Supplies

No matter what the size of their budget, many brides are handcrafting elements of their weddings to give it that personal touch. Card-making supplies, papers and card stock, ribbon, lace and other craft supplies can often be found at a reduced price after Christmas is over.

Planning a wedding on a budget is challenging, but many items on sale after the holidays can easily be converted to wedding decorations. By taking advantage of after Christmas sales, brides can have the wedding of their dreams while still saving money for the honeymoon.
