Choosing wedding colors can be a tedious process. But if you’re getting married around Christmas, your colors are hand-picked for you! The use of red and green is an easy way to incorporate the holiday’s signature palette, with the bonus that most Christmas decorations are already in these colors.
You can also choose either green or red and accent it with silver or gold (like this example). Just make sure you don’t choose shades that are too bright for the season, like lime green or bright red, as these don’t blend as well with the weather and surroundings of wintertime.
Christmas ornaments are a big part of the idea of Christmas. In December, they are covering everything from storefronts to the family tree, and they are an inexpensive and easy way to decorate your ceremony and reception.
If you want to use ornaments in your décor, one option is to get some in your colors and fill empty glass vases with them. These work well as centerpieces on tables, especially with cylindrical vases, and are a great way to save money by using fewer flowers.
Another way to use ornaments in your décor is to personalize ornaments that can double as favors. You can purchase clear glass ones for fairly cheap at Jo-Ann’s. To make an ornament with you and your fiancé’s picture inside, follow these simple instructions:
If you’re lucky, your location will be decorated for Christmas, including Christmas trees. If this is the case, you get a free opportunity for beautiful décor. You can place either the ornaments in your colors or the personalized ornaments on the tree and invite guests to take one as a favor on their way out. (This works best with the personalized ones, as your guests probably don’t want a random color ornament.)
If you don’t have a Christmas tree at your location, then smaller trees are a good option. Check out after-Christmas sales the year before your wedding and get as many small trees as you can at a discount. You can place these around the reception area for a festive touch.
Ivy is a great Christmas or winter wedding décor option. Not only can you find it fairly cheap, its shape is conducive to decorating the inside of a tent or the corners of a room. You can incorporate your colors by wrapping ribbon through the ivy.
