By using candy as a central decor element through the shower, ceremony, and reception, your wedding will be tasteful and fun.
First, the shower. To set the stage for your wedding, talk to your maid of honor (or whoever is doing your shower) and let them add touches of candy throughout. Candy-flavored ice cream such as Milky Way or Snickers would be a fun dessert for the party. The favors could be individual ring pops for each guest. The CeremonySpring/Summer: To incorporate candy tastefully in your spring or summer ceremony, consider using individually-wrapped colorful gumballs. The flower girl can toss these instead of flowers, which children can be encouraged to pick up after the ceremony. Fall: For fall, consider using maple candies in the same way as the gumballs. However, adults may like these more than children. And make sure they are also individually wrapped. Winter: For a winter ceremony, incorporate the candy of the season—candy canes! You can find these in many different colors to match your wedding colors. One can be hung from the flower girl basket, and they can also be used to decorate the aisles. The ReceptionDécor: From gumballs to candy canes, your favorite sweets can serve as inexpensive décor for your reception. For candy garland, simply choose your candy and hot glue each individually-wrapped piece together to make a strand. These can be hung around the room or tent, or even from each chair. Centerpieces: Whatever kind of candy you’ve chosen will make an inexpensive and pretty centerpiece. Simply place the candy in tall, clear-glass containers. This looks especially put-together when each container has one color of candy. Favors: At a winter wedding, candy canes are the perfect favor. Purchase personalized ribbon to tie around each piece and hang them on a small tree near the exit of the party. Since the tree will be decorated with the candy canes until the end of the reception, consider it part of the décor as well—two in one! Dessert-to-go: During any other time of year, consider putting out an assortment of your favorite candy in different size containers, found HERE. Simply purchase small bags for guests to fill with their favorites, and these can serve as both to-go desserts and cheap favors. MemoriesMake sure you have your photographer take plenty of pictures of guests enjoying the candy surroundings, and close-up shots of your edible favors. While it may seem like a good idea to keep that bag of candy or candy cane favor forever, a picture will last longer—and won’t attract ants to you and your new spouse’s place!
